longer term shorts are getting longer and
longer. As the day goes on, the longer hold
time you will have, especially compared to
the hold times in the first 90 minutes which
are faster

possible on the short side
[10:39 am] Mitch K: also when you see stocks
that had high volatility, like FSLR for
example, had a big bounce, then a nice short.
then you keep that chart up all day and
monitor it for other entries, like the short
it just had last 40 min or so

by the first hour where things happen quickly
and you have to adjust to a different style
and approach later in the day. Requires more
patience, discipline and your profit
potential on scalps later in the day might
only be 1/2 to 1% profit potential….. not
the monster profits

here, maybe 1 point or 1% here possible,
probably end up with 0.6 or 0.7% profit on
this short. maybe takes another 15-20 min

way on oscillators. they can go flat at the
top of the channel for a long time and the
stock is continuing to go up. If you are
shorting a stock, you would be losing money
all that time, in the case of VRTX you would
be losing for the last 8 minutes on a short
if you use that signal
[12:22 pm] Kris : 3min stochastics reaching
overbought level.
[12:22 pm] Kris : previous low, 39.00 whole
dollar resistance, VWAP just over 39.00
shark.
[12:22 pm] Mitch K: just to repeat for some
of you, the all time favorite long setup is
this VRTX and it works on day trades or
swings.
[12:23 pm] Kris : I still prefer 3
[12:23 pm] Mitch K: increasing volume,
accelerating drop in price
[12:23 pm] Mitch K: yes i have gravitated to
2 min charts from 3. i use 1 and 2 min
charts on esignal[12:24 pm] Kris : more
consistent and less head fakes.
[12:24 pm] Mitch K: look how the down candles
[red] got bigger and bigger at the same time
as the volume bars got bigger and bigger at
an exponentially increasing rate
[12:25 pm] Kris : increasing fear and
flushing out the rest of the weak longs
[12:26 pm] Kris : then you get short covering
and buyers start to come back in and you’ll
see the volume start to diminish after the
turn.
[12:26 pm] Mitch K: it is like a sneeze that
gets to a point where you can’t stop it.
Mitch Kings version of “capitulation” where
the climax of sellers culminated in that one
moment and the sellers are exhausted and the
balance of trading volume is now buying
[12:26 pm] Mitch K: mike, you see why you
don’t use an oscillator as a sell signal just
because it goes flat? you would learn this
the hard way if you were short.
[12:27 pm] Mitch K: look at stochastics on a
1 min chart, still going sideways, flat
[12:27 pm] Mitch K: this is not a sell signal
on a 1 min chart
[12:28 pm] Kris : mike, a couple things you
can do
[12:28 pm] Kris : some platforms have a timer
add-on where you can see how much time is
left in the 3min candle so you can get a head
start before it closes.
[12:29 pm] Kris : leg into it with at least 2
orders, maybe even 3
[12:29 pm] Kris : see if it holds the low
with your small position and then build into
it.
[12:29 pm] Kris : the other thing is that if
it starts to take off you can start with a
small piece and then add on a pullback
[12:29 pm] Kris : you got it
[12:29 pm] Mitch K: candle
[12:29 pm] Mitch K: that blue arrow was your
sell signal right mike? that red candle
[12:30 pm] Kris : should have trailed my last
piece. I am guilty of looking at the money
and the clock.
[12:30 pm] Mitch K: if you use an oscillator
as a sell signal you would be 3% underwater
on your short and erase your long position
profit on it
[12:32 pm] Mitch K: I’ve moved away from
using the 3 min chart
[12:32 pm] Mitch K: the 3 min stochastics
just started turning over only 1 bar ago on
VRTX
[12:32 pm] Mitch K: you will make a lot more
money waiting for oscillators to reverse as
well as using moving averages at the same
time to get signals.
[12:33 pm] Mitch K: as a primary chart for
signals and using a 2 min
[12:39 pm] Kris : SPY really built some
overhead resistance today at that 120.00
area.
[12:40 pm] Kris : and then previous S/R
levels if available.
[12:40 pm] Kris : I use 1min darvas box lows

a set % or price

120.00 could give a nice move to the long
