years ago, see if i can spot any patterns
that’s all
[07:57 am] ppann : i was just gonna say
trying is old school:)
[07:58 am] derns : Doji…look at APKT…I
should have had more conviction!
[07:58 am] joeytsa : yeah ppann, just

[07:58 am] ppann : yes sir u got that
right
[07:59 am] doji : Have a meeting, will leave
URBN stop be price and buy order at 25.8, see
you in 30min
[08:02 am] ppann : grabbed SFSF short at
25.43
[08:03 am] ppann : Kris may i have your
thoughts on CVX long
[08:05 am] Kris : a long over 106 but it
doesn’t move that much so it’s not worth the
risk for me.
[08:05 am] Kris : maybe get .50 out of the
break
[08:06 am] junior : intc breaking out
[08:06 am] ppann : thank you was
considering but i see what u mean
[08:07 am] eyes-inthenow : Kris any thoughts

stop bought me at 30.43
[08:08 am] Kris : what’s your question
eyes?
[08:08 am] ppann : buy program on the
hour
[08:08 am] shark : WOW!
[08:08 am] sonorant : It looked awful Kris
— he got caught on this huge spike
[08:11 am] trvlntrdr : It sounds like you
used a stop order, eyes, that means when the
price is hit it generate a market order. it
is bad luck in a surge in volume
[08:12 am] trvlntrdr : the only way to avoid
this is to use stop limit but then you might
not fill
[08:13 am] ppann : shorted more at 1246 on
ES
[08:13 am] ronfrac : OVTI turning over
[08:13 am] sonorant : Am I correct on
that?
[08:13 am] sonorant : you most likely would
not have filled with a stop limit –your
market order got you such a bad price because
it surged so quickly
[08:14 am] trvlntrdr : I think you are right
and then if the surge continues you are out
of luck on the stop
[08:14 am] trvlntrdr : In this case it would
have filled the next minute or so
[08:14 am] trvlntrdr : so it would have
helped here
[08:15 am] ppann : going to build a position
on the ES for an attempt to swing it
short….yah right! like i’m gonna hold for
that long…LOL
[08:17 am] sonorant : most of my shorts have
been REALLY bad news today.
[08:18 am] ppann : added more SFSF short at
25.58
[08:19 am] anthonyb : sorry sonorant 🙁
My shorts worked for the most part
[08:19 am] ppann : ss more ES at
1247.5…that should do it for the high’s
imo[08:19 am] ronfrac : RUT new hod[08:19
am] sonorant : anthony, you have wider stops
than I do, more patience, and a deeper
understanding!
[08:20 am] doji : Sonorant, what were your
shorts
[08:20 am] sonorant : then I also tried to
short FOSL — that didn’t work, though I am
doing quite well on it now as a long
[08:20 am] sonorant : well URBN for one
[08:21 am] anthonyb : You should have gotten
1% on 1/2 on URBN and stopped out 1/2 at BE
or a little better
[08:21 am] doji : Did you S URBN in the
second help?
[08:21 am] sonorant : I also tried to short
ATI…
[08:22 am] joeytsa : no thanks..i work
🙂
[08:22 am] Mitch : anyone want to join me in
Occupy Wall Street and be part of the 1% ?

[08:23 am] rusty : wear
Tradestocksamerica.com T-shirts?
[08:23 am] sonorant : I was short back when
you were, and tried to go in again as it went
up. May try and short it again.
[08:23 am] trvlntrdr : done by a major
democratic party pollster
[08:23 am] trvlntrdr : interesting article
in WSJ about a poll of the occupiers
[08:24 am] doji : in my next trip to south
of Chile, close to the south pole, I’ll wear
my TradeStocksAmerica shirt so you can post
it in the website
[08:24 am] doji : we are all over the
world!
[08:24 am] trvlntrdr : He recommends for the
Democrats not to identify with them.
[08:25 am] anthonyb : buy guys! I mean bye
guys. See you tomorrow
[08:25 am] trvlntrdr : doji that would be
great!
[08:26 am] lisas : bye anthony[08:26 am]

[08:27 am] doji : TZA consolidating…
[08:27 am] ppann : Goldman is doing his
trick right now on the ES
[08:28 am] joeytsa : BIDU hod[08:29 am] doji
: High Of the DAY pmarvel[08:29 am] pmarvel
: hod?
[08:31 am] joeytsa : Mitch : here is the
link to those 2 videos i mentioned
earlier…watch them after hours, 1st the
Martin Weiss video which is kind of long, 2nd
the Harry Dent interview from Bloomberg
tv..about 5 minutes long
[08:32 am] doji : TZA will be a good short
soon

[08:33 am] joeytsa : better get your riot
gear on 🙂
[08:33 am] sonorant : short SFSF $26.04 —
with a nod to ppann[08:35 am] derns : TZA
really confuses me…with all the uncertainty
still in the market, I have a hard time
understanding why this continues to drop so
much
[08:35 am] joeytsa : ES didn’t quite want to
crack 1250 yet
[08:35 am] sonorant : doji, do you have any
pending orders on URBN?
[08:36 am] joeytsa : because the market is
trending up ..for whatever reason
[08:36 am] Kris : and earnings reports
[08:36 am] Kris : derns, markets are not
logical
[08:36 am] Kris : it feels like bad news
exhaustion
[08:36 am] ppann : TZA is an indicator not a
company…so it represents the flipside of
the market
[08:36 am] shark : YEAH!
[08:37 am] derns : Thx for reminding me
Kris…
[08:37 am] Kris : and now we’re getting a lot
of short covering and more longs on the
breakouts
[08:37 am] Kris : made the markets
consolidate near resistance
[08:37 am] ppann : finally a sell program
[08:37 am] sonorant : right, the short
covering makes it go up too, I had forgotten
that.
[08:38 am] joeytsa : every breakout is
partly short covering
[08:38 am] joeytsa : spot on ppann..reverse
for bull market
[08:38 am] ppann : The market’s rally early
in the week and early in the day in a Bear
Market
[08:38 am] shark : Co’s making their #’s
after they were downgraded, with lower #’s –
easier to beat here
[08:38 am] sonorant : very interesting
[08:39 am] derns : Joeytsa…I watched part
of the video you posted…started it the
other day..do you believe the concerns Weiss
raises?
[08:39 am] ppann : remember Mutual funds
end of year is end of OCT
[08:39 am] shark : AAPL profit taking
here
[08:40 am] joeytsa : GOOG has had some neg
div…keeping an eye on it
[08:40 am] shark : div? joey
[08:40 am] sonorant : ppann, can you say
more about mutual funds Oct eoy and how that
influences it?
[08:41 am] joeytsa : between
price/indis[08:41 am] joeytsa : neg div =
negative divergence
[08:42 am] joeytsa : derns : i think weiss
has the concerns correct…but that doesn’t
mean it will play it like that…
[08:42 am] joeytsa : he says we are 1 step
away from “game over”
[08:42 am] joeytsa : honestly, his main
concern is that europe/US is bankrupt..for
the most part [08:43 am] amersaeed : thanks
Jewels… you made money…??
[08:43 am] jewels : I’m done trading for the
day, gang. Have a good one.
[08:43 am] jewels : Made a little… but
it’s my birthday so I’m off to celebrate it
🙂
[08:43 am] joeytsa : that step being the day
the debt buyers say ” no more”
[08:44 am] jewels : lol… thanks…
[08:44 am] Kris : Happy Birthday Jewels
[08:46 am] joeytsa : PCLN monster
day..trading above all 3 ma’s on the
daily..still below recent highs
[08:46 am] ppann : i believe that this 16%
run up from the lows mixed with funds getting
killed, adding to the run up, squeezing
shorts, to give us this rally….Funds gonna
dump soon.imo…the pit is short at 1249
[08:46 am] shark : need some birthday music,
Kris!
[08:47 am] joeytsa : much easier to trade
the trend
[08:47 am] pmarvel : It means MCP is going
up?
[08:47 am] ppann : stops run up to 1255
[08:48 am] apple : thx for info MK
[08:48 am] joeytsa : mistake i made earlier
( still made $) and mistake new traders make
is trying to take every indicator call
[08:48 am] scalpman : Time to go….5 for 7
today with one B.E. So, a good day. Thanks
to Mitch and Kris. See you all tomorrow.
[08:48 am] shark : FSLR shorts ran for the
hills -up 13%
[08:49 am] doji : Sonorant, just saw your
post, my trailing stop in URBN was hit at
breakeven
[08:49 am] Kris : Great Job Scalpman[08:49
am] Kris : you’re becoming very consistent
[08:50 am] apple : also possible noon
reversal
[08:50 am] sonorant : doji, did you have any
buys or sells in place on either side of the
consolidation?
[08:51 am] doji : No Sonorant, I am in the
middle of a meeting so cannot trade at this
moment, just watching your comments in the
trading room for teh rest of teh day
[08:52 am] shark : TZA, here, Kris?
[08:53 am] ppann : 1 yr ESZ has a lot of
resistance at the 1250 area of
march,april,june[08:54 am] doji : Too risky
for me TZA, SPY can rebound from trendline
support
[08:56 am] doji : See you later, have to
move to another office….
[08:58 am] joeytsa : ppann: thanks…2 pts
on that last drop since your call of the pits
at 1249
[08:58 am] khall : 🙂 Thanks Kris
[08:58 am] khall : well, for my first day
I’m not doing too badly – 60% success rate
and getting better. you guys help a BUNCH
[08:58 am] shark : Awesome khall! Sweet!
[08:58 am] sonorant : right, the trend
line!!! good point, just drew it in. it is
hard to make all of these pieces second
nature
[09:00 am] joeytsa : LO slowly trying to
close that gap..step by step, inch by inch
[09:02 am] joeytsa : BIDU still rollin’
[09:03 am] cowboyh : by guys have to go to
work have a good day
[09:03 am] ppann : small sell program
[09:04 am] joeytsa : PRGO quick 50cent
spike
[09:08 am] sonorant : joey, at what point
did you go long LO?
[09:09 am] joeytsa : it was approx 110, out
just under 111
[09:09 am] joeytsa : that was just after the
bell…didn’t keep following it
unfortunately
[09:10 am] joeytsa : you mean on the
downside?
[09:10 am] sonorant : how did you keep from
getting stopped out on it?
[09:10 am] sonorant : I guess my question is
really when?
[09:11 am] joeytsa : i let it fall, then
bought as it recovered…gunslinged a bit
[09:11 am] joeytsa : the big one down below
109.50
[09:11 am] sonorant : did you go long after
the big red spike down at 6:31 or 6:32?
[09:12 am] joeytsa : technically a “wrong”
trade…more of a gut feel
[09:12 am] joeytsa : the correct technical
trade would have been the test below 109.5
[09:12 am] sonorant : so you actually did
not get it right out of the slot — how did
you know to wait?
[09:12 am] sonorant : yep, that one.
[09:13 am] joeytsa : after the open i
mean…trying not to catch a falling knife
[09:13 am] joeytsa : when i emailed you, did
i write that on gap downs i wait to see if
they will fall?
[09:13 am] sonorant : ah, the mysterious gut
feel of the seasoned trader….. argh!
[09:14 am] sonorant : I’m not sure, on one
of them, you were waiting for a turnaround,
but I thought it was the other way — when
you wanted to short because they had gapped
up.
[09:15 am] joeytsa : that is my new way..old
way was to just short the gap up due to the
uptick rule
[09:16 am] joeytsa : look at NFLX on the
open..gapped up but the indis were low..so i
avoided the short until i saw them higher and
turn down
[09:16 am] sonorant : ok. So the correct
technical way — on test below 109.5 — at
about what minute are you referring to? And
I believe I am endin this sentence in a
preposition, Somone nailed me on that last
week.
[09:18 am] joeytsa : hate to say it..but its
not an exact science…
[09:18 am] joeytsa : on LO..i liked the test
appro 9:37 est..it was a higher low and the
indis pointed up
[09:18 am] joeytsa : same set up tomorrow
might be a loss for me
[09:19 am] joeytsa : and what makes it 100
times harder is that it happens very
quickly…
[09:19 am] joeytsa : i only premarket on
[09:19 am] joeytsa : it’s easy to explain
and learn from after the fact
[09:19 am] sonorant : okay, so here is a
question for you, do your charts show
extended trading hours? because I played
with this on Sat, and the indis would vary
dependinng on extended or regular hour time
frame.
[09:20 am] joeytsa : now on a day where a
stock trends higher especially if the market
trends higher…
[09:20 am] sonorant : looking at NFLX still.
which indis? stochs? settings? MACD?
[09:21 am] joeytsa : i try to avoid
stochastic sell signals except for possible
areas to sell my long position…on days that
are trending up
[09:21 am] joeytsa : i use stochastics only
for buys
[09:21 am] ppann : NFLX reports today?
[09:22 am] joeytsa : both as support and
res
[09:22 am] joeytsa : yeah ppann: NFLX
bouncing on that prev cl
[09:24 am] boomboom : Is there any play on
SXCI, Mitch/Kris?
[09:24 am] joeytsa : had they been
overbought..i probably would have pulled the
short on the open
[09:24 am] joeytsa : sonorant : on NFLX the
stochs were in oversold territory on the
open
[09:24 am] ppann : mondays are a popular day
for mutual funds buying into the market
aswe[09:25 am] joeytsa : sonorant : best
place to short NFLX technically for me was
right around the 9:40est area
[09:25 am] ppann : ftnt[09:25 am] sonorant
: back to considering LO — actually pretty
weak given the strength of the market. And I
see what you mean about the 9:37 bar. Thnks.
will look at NFLX again now.
[09:26 am] mhaus : SXCI
[09:27 am] joeytsa : right around 9:40 (
NFLX), green candle looked weak, followed by
red candle..both which were lower highs from
the 9:33 area
[09:29 am] joeytsa : BIDU hod after
hod[09:29 am] joeytsa : sonorant: did that
make sense about NFLX?
[09:30 am] joeytsa : again..its much easier
to see after the fact..heat of the battle
sometimes you don’t have the luxury of
analyzing a bunch of stuff
[09:31 am] joeytsa : Mitch always says to
put the odds on your side..i just happened to
see a lower high + reversal candle + indis
trending down
[09:31 am] ppann : grabbed more short on
SFSF at 26.25
[09:31 am] sonorant : yes, it makes perfect
sense! after the fact… lol[09:32 am]
sonorant : so that is the best way to have
shorted — what did you actually do?
[09:33 am] sonorant : on NFLX
[09:34 am] ppann : sell program
[09:35 am] joeytsa : DVN lod[09:36 am]
joeytsa : the old me would have done the
exact same thing
[09:36 am] sonorant : see, if I had been
trading NFLX this morning, I probably would
have gone in on teh big red candle down
around 9:35 est, then panicked when it
started up again. I probably would have
stopped out at about 119.68 Right Before if
turned around again and went south
[09:37 am] joeytsa : the old me most likely
would have used a $2 stop loss…i was more
reckless back then
[09:37 am] sonorant : yes?? and so what do
you do now? what did you do today? go in a
little later, or not panic quite so
quickly?
[09:38 am] ppann : sell program
[09:38 am] sonorant : I think you would have
held on to your cookies in that particular
trade with a $2 stop
[09:39 am] joeytsa : had i entered on the
open today..i would have been stopped out for
$1
[09:40 am] sonorant : which stochastic
settings are you using?
[09:40 am] sonorant : yes, you would have
lost in that scenario
[09:42 am] joeytsa : 8%k, 6%d
[09:43 am] joeytsa : i think that’s what a
lot of TSA members are using
[09:44 am] joeytsa : i’m still fairly new
with using stochastics…I’m sure there are
others in here who have much better insight
on them
[09:44 am] ppann : took .30 on ftnt 1k
shares
[09:44 am] sonorant : I bet I have used half
a dozen different stoch settings since I came
to the room based on different peoples
recommendations! lol[09:45 am] joeytsa :
still looks like 1250 is the resistance level
on ES
[09:46 am] joeytsa : i didn’t take any of
these, but it’s a great learning example
[09:46 am] joeytsa : sonorant : look at the
MCP chart mitch has up…
[09:46 am] sonorant : how do you choose
which of your many options to trade at
6:30?
[09:47 am] joeytsa : the logical buy on MCP,
since it was trending up is approx the 38.70
area, 30.30 area
[09:47 am] ppann : i use 14,3,3,1 or 14,3,1
whatever i can enter in my platform
[09:47 am] ppann : on the slow stochs[09:48
am] joeytsa : a chart like this is one i
print off and stare at
[09:48 am] joeytsa : only short i would have
been comfortable with was that 1st one off of
the steep up move
[09:48 am] ppann : arba, nice hod[09:48 am]
sonorant : and by the time I got it back up,
CAT was moving up.
[09:48 am] sonorant : oh no, so what did you
take? I was determined to short CAT because
it had gone up so very much, and then I
discovered when the bell rang that my data
feed wasn’t working.
[09:49 am] sonorant : wait, I lost the
thread, a chart like which one?
[09:50 am] boomboom : PPan, what’s your
target on the SFSF short?
[09:50 am] joeytsa : it’s a great chart to
study
[09:50 am] joeytsa : the MCP chart that
Mitch has up
[09:50 am] sonorant : MCP?
[09:50 am] sonorant : so did you go long on
anything besides LO?
[09:52 am] eyes-inthenow : Kris is there a
way to better protect myself in ninja on my
stops so that don’t happen
[09:52 am] ppann : gonna see how it acts on
the 50sma around the 25.30 area
[09:52 am] ppann : on the 5 min
[09:53 am] boomboom : Thank, PP
[09:53 am] Brent : that would’ve happened on
any platform Eyes. Your stop market order was
filled in a spike. No way to prevent it
[09:53 am] joeytsa : and a small short on
CI
[09:53 am] joeytsa : i did catch Mitch’s
call on LVS
[09:53 am] joeytsa : no sonorant, only
because i had an ES trade on the open
[09:53 am] ppann : your welcome boom
[09:54 am] eyes-inthenow : Thanks Brent I
guess the rule is anything can Happen in the
Markets I got to get used to that
[09:54 am] go4it : die nflx die
[09:55 am] Brent : that’s just the way it
goes sometimes.
[09:55 am] joeytsa : LO closed that
gap…nice move, think they have earnings
today also
[09:55 am] joeytsa : those are tough beats
eyes
[09:56 am] eyes-inthenow : Well at least I
am Trading a Plan not Trying to be Right
[09:56 am] joeytsa : smart eyes…can’t
break the rules
[09:56 am] ppann : It’s a very hard
discipline, but having mental stops solves
that problem
[09:56 am] sonorant : eyes, there is
something in the Ninja Automated trading
strategy advanced section that lets you
specify a required amount of volume in order
for a market stop to trigger. It is intended
to prevent something like that. The catch is
first, knowing what to set the volume at, and
secondly, if it isn’t a spike, but the start
of a trend, you will be badly screwed.
[09:56 am] sonorant : much worse than you
were.
[09:57 am] ppann : I NEVER post my stops,
But that took years of getting killed trying
to develop that disassociation
[09:58 am] ppann : ONLY mental stops
[09:58 am] sonorant : so you never set
actually stops, they are all just mental?
[09:59 am] joeytsa : higher volume right b4
the big jump
[09:59 am] joeytsa : IDCC big spike up ,
higher vol[09:59 am] joeytsa : missed a
beauty of a consolidation breakout
[09:59 am] ppann : lol currently i’m in 11
positions
[09:59 am] sonorant : how many positions do
you trade at one time?
[09:59 am] trvlntrdr : It makes sense if you
have large positions in a stock
[09:59 am] trvlntrdr : Sonorant, a lot of
people do mental stops to prevent the big
boys from seeing your stops.
[10:00 am] joeytsa : CL running big move
[10:00 am] joeytsa : up 50cents in 2
minutes
[10:00 am] trvlntrdr : I don’t think anyone
cares about me but once you have more than a
1000 shares you might be noticed, the way I
see it
[10:01 am] trvlntrdr : I know they see all
the orders but it has to make sense to move
the market to take out stops
[10:02 am] ppann : it’s all accumulative
[10:02 am] sonorant : a program could be
quite efficient at it.
[10:02 am] sonorant : but the “person” doing
this — looking at the stops, is probably a
computer, yes?
[10:02 am] trvlntrdr : But PPAN I agree with
you if I were moving the amount you do I
would not post stops
[10:03 am] ppann : in milliseconds
[10:03 am] trvlntrdr : At my level I need
the discipline to make sure I stop out. I
just need to learn to give volatile stocks
more leeway.
[10:04 am] pmarvel : What are blue lines
means?
[10:04 am] trvlntrdr : but that is better
than letting it go against you and not
stopping out at all. 🙁
[10:04 am] trvlntrdr : I often get stopped
out at a higher high to see the stock return
to a down trend
[10:05 am] eyes-inthenow : As long as you
have the Discipline to execute your stop that
way great most traders stay hoping it will
come back I have been guilty of that quite
often
[10:05 am] ppann : don’t ask me to explain
this, but that is what the rule of 3’s is
based on…i was taught to take out stops
[10:05 am] ppann : no commenting from me on
the rule of 3’s
[10:06 am] trvlntrdr : I will learn
later.
[10:06 am] trvlntrdr : ppan– we appreciate
your comments. I don’t expect you to explain
everything in the chat room–too
burdensome.
[10:07 am] joeytsa : i just added pivot
lines to a few charts, see what the heck
they mean haha[10:08 am] trvlntrdr : I
think even if you master trading, Ie get
rich, you still would have to learn, as the
technology and tactics change, the economy
changes the market.
[10:10 am] eyes-inthenow : AGP
[10:12 am] joeytsa : trv: the only thing you
can count on is constant change 🙂
[10:14 am] ppann : took +1 on the ES ..huge
buy in the ESZ
[10:15 am] ppann : gonna see if i can get
short again..
[10:20 am] ppann : grabbd some at 1248.75
[10:20 am] sonorant : candles, you have been
so quiet. What have you traded today?
[10:21 am] candelas :
aapl,sxci,gmcr,sina[10:21 am] lisas : Gotta
run for a while, great start to the week.
Thanks all

afternoon is always best
[10:34 am] trvlntrdr : gonna see if SINA has
a higher low
[10:36 am] sonorant : Thanks mhaus — in
BCSI long, one target left to go

[10:37 am] victor51 : Thanks for your Not to

[10:47 am] pmarvel : Apple are they real

different from MK’s charts.
[10:48 am] ppann : es going for 1253 to 1255
buy stops…
[10:48 am] ppann : hedge fund buying right
now
[10:48 am] rusty : SCSS merits watching on

they will turn soon
[10:49 am] rusty : but worth watching

would go down eventually. We all know how
that turned out.
[11:14 am] mikewd2 -: looks like VIX at
resistance, time to head up
[11:14 am] trvlntrdr : it is rare that the
vix stays elevated for so long. but it did
this time
[11:15 am] trvlntrdr : it seems like the
market is a little over extended. but I am
tired of arguing with it. it always wins the
argument
[11:16 am] rusty : Keep an eye on the SPY
volume – it’s really low
[11:18 am] ppann : cvrd at 1247
[11:19 am] mbear : Does anyone have any
recommendations on finding stocks that are in
consolidation patterns like CRS was before
today?
[11:19 am] mikewd2 -: my thoughts rusty
[11:19 am] rusty : in order for a breakout
to be valid you need volume and it’s just not
there – looks like short covering is fueling
the market
[11:20 am] mbear : I have been trying the
S/R scan on Finviz.com, but it doesn’t seem
to find these types of stocks
[11:20 am] mikewd2 -: Analyst on CNBC really
trying to sell the rally
[11:20 am] ppann : out of my spread tlt +.2
and spy+.2 on 20 contracts each
[11:22 am] rusty :
http://www.thegreedytrader.com/ good site to
look for chart ideas
[11:22 am] trvlntrdr : my wild guess if they
don’t come up with something solid on WED
(Greece) the market may turn over
[11:23 am] trvlntrdr : plus the longer we
get into earnings season thing s can fizzle
out
[11:26 am] joeytsa : sites do that…i
remember when briefing gave a ton of free
stuff
[11:26 am] rusty : but still worth taking a
look at
[11:26 am] rusty : looks like greedy trader
site got greedy and put some of the better
stuff under wraps
[11:27 am] joeytsa : me either…i gave a
few sites out last week..some decent free
stuff, but the main stuff is subscription
[11:27 am] ppann : gonna sell every rally
from here
[11:27 am] rusty : can’t blame them
[11:27 am] trvlntrdr : FSLR going down as
predicted earlier
[11:27 am] trvlntrdr : I think they do that
to get people interested — and advertisers.
no reason they shouldn’t
[11:29 am] mikewd2 -: VRUS at lod[11:30 am]
trvlntrdr : rusty get s credit for FSLR
notification
[11:31 am] trvlntrdr : made a (sim) $1
[11:35 am] joeytsa : nice job trv !!
[11:37 am] ronfrac : FSLR approaching
support
[11:37 am] sonorant : I know that problem —
nailed by low blood sugar
[11:37 am] trvlntrdr : well as I pointed out
I give Rusty the credit. I should have made
more but I got hungry and had to leave!
[11:38 am] joeytsa : still a profit..good
call rusty
[11:40 am] joeytsa : ANF hod…not sure if
there is much money in it, but has been
trending up all day
[11:42 am] apple : thx MK, B, K and
everyone. Gotta go pick up my son from
school. Everyone have a terrific evening.
See you all tomorrow!
[11:42 am] ronfrac : MRO trending
[11:44 am] joeytsa : not sure if this will
lead to a trade, but NFLX seems to using that
117 level as a hinge
[11:46 am] rusty : NFLX earnings today
[11:46 am] sonorant : trv, what is
tc2000?
[11:46 am] trvlntrdr : on tc2000
[11:46 am] trvlntrdr : pn tc2000 117 is
where the most volume has occurred in the
last month
[11:47 am] joeytsa : interesting trv[11:47
am] sonorant : ok, thanks
[11:47 am] trvlntrdr : the newest worden
bros charts
[11:48 am] sonorant : and what does pn
mean?
[11:48 am] trvlntrdr : for support and
resistance. I meant to type on
[11:48 am] trvlntrdr : they have a “volume
at price” indicator. I think freestockcharts
has it too
[11:49 am] amersaeed : pn was typo for ON
[11:49 am] joeytsa : funny, internet lingo
for owned is pwned[11:49 am] joeytsa : MCP
little spike up
[11:49 am] trvlntrdr : yep
[11:51 am] joeytsa : MCP just spiked up to
the r2 level and then a bit down…need to
learn more about pivot points
[11:51 am] trvlntrdr : Do you remember PM
Batty in Dallas?
[11:52 am] joeytsa : i don’t remember, might
have been b4 i joined
[11:52 am] trvlntrdr : He had pivots on his
charts that seemed different than normal
pivots
[11:53 am] joeytsa : you can get indicator
crazy
[11:53 am] trvlntrdr : I was intrigued by
his charts but I couldn’t find those pivots
since.
[11:53 am] trvlntrdr : The ones I now are
only from the day before.
[11:54 am] trvlntrdr : I know I think they
all have value but i am sticking to Mitch’s
that he uses on the videos plus VWAP
[11:55 am] joeytsa : i like the look of
Mitch’s charts in the room
[11:55 am] joeytsa : same here, still trying
to get LS to add vwap….most likely will
sign on with esignal soon though
[11:56 am] trvlntrdr : what charts do you
use with LS?
[11:57 am] joeytsa : and 19 on street smart
edge
[11:57 am] joeytsa : i use 1 LS chart
[11:57 am] joeytsa : well
[11:58 am] amersaeed : did any one bullish
on NFLX… how about earning .. what you guys
think
[11:58 am] joeytsa : ES/Cl charts up on
NT
[11:58 am] joeytsa : then whatever charts
Mitch puts up
[11:59 am] amersaeed : thanks
[11:59 am] joeytsa : GMCR getting a little
pop
[11:59 am] rusty : KMB bounce
[11:59 am] trvlntrdr : amer, I was taught
not to hold positions into earnings
[11:59 am] trvlntrdr : it is a total
gamble
[12:00 pm] joeytsa : if anything amersaeed,
maybe hold an option…smaller loss that way
if it goes against you
[12:00 pm] rusty : market hod[12:00 pm]
rusty : SODA hod[12:02 pm] ppann : short
ES1251.75 1st leg
[12:02 pm] trvlntrdr : Brent do agree about
not buying a stock right before earnings?
PPAN?
[12:04 pm] amersaeed : I am subscribe for a
new letter from Zacs wisper… made lot of
money but lose lot of money as well
[12:04 pm] amersaeed : Zacks.com
[12:04 pm] rusty :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y1Nd1qtk1Go
video of trader buying stocks before
earnings
[12:05 pm] joeytsa : honestly to me the
earnings play is either the run up/down into
the report but get out b4, and sometimes a
nice play on the opening after the report
[12:05 pm] ppann : 1252 ‘s are no good
[12:05 pm] rusty : agree joey, better to
play the reaction that guessing which way it
will go
[12:05 pm] trvlntrdr : Exactly, joey, that
is not what he is doing though
[12:05 pm] trvlntrdr : you are right the
stock will move around a lot. But even
insiders cant predict reaction to earnings.
Only hold it you are willing to have short
term loss
[12:06 pm] joeytsa : NFLX weekly 115c is
$7.50, 120p $10…seems expensive to me
[12:06 pm] trvlntrdr : very volatile
stock
[12:07 pm] joeytsa : lower volume stock
[12:07 pm] joeytsa : STRA nice spike up
[12:07 pm] ppann : redid the same tlt/spy
spread
[12:08 pm] joeytsa : obama just landed here
in vegas[12:11 pm] joeytsa : i have to get
up there
[12:11 pm] joeytsa : NFLX broke thru that
117 level
[12:12 pm] joeytsa : that break came on
higher volume also
[12:14 pm] ppann : took half off +3.25 10
cars
[12:14 pm] trvlntrdr : my best trade ever on
GMCR.
[12:15 pm] sonorant : NFLX was pretty strong
on that drop
[12:17 pm] mikewd2 -: let’s see if SPY can
break this resistance
[12:18 pm] mikewd2 -: i guess that was
support – for a reason
[12:19 pm] candelas : got some of the
move
[12:19 pm] candelas : that was a nice
ride
[12:19 pm] joeytsa : NFLX rockin’
[12:19 pm] joeytsa : started with that break
over 117
[12:20 pm] joeytsa : i took $1
[12:20 pm] mikewd2 -: are u long Joey?
[12:20 pm] mikewd2 -: on NFLX, haha[12:20 pm]
sonorant : do I dare dip again for more?
[12:24 pm] lightning : Brent/Kris, on the
breakaway strategy one of the scans is for
stocks that haven’t moved much in the last
week. I can’t seem to do that on FinViz.
Can it be done on Trade-Ideas?
[12:28 pm] rusty : SCSS retreating
[12:29 pm] Brent : I haven’t found a good
scan for that strategy on Trade ideas
Lightning
[12:29 pm] Kris : what platform are you using
matt?
[12:29 pm] Kris : with esignal?
[12:29 pm] lightning : Lightspeed[12:29 pm]
lightning : thanks, Brent.
[12:29 pm] ppann : took another 5 off at
1246, from 1251.75…5 left
[12:30 pm] Kris : you have trade ideas
right?
[12:30 pm] lightning : yes
[12:31 pm] Kris :
http://www.trade-ideas.com/StockInfo/7_day_co
nsolidation.html
[12:31 pm] Kris : you can do it in
tradeideas[12:31 pm] lightning : great…now
I really have reasons to get trade-ideas
[12:31 pm] lightning : not yet.
[12:31 pm] lightning : thanks, Kris
[12:32 pm] Kris : and then set your alerts on
esignal[12:32 pm] Kris : for something like
that matt
[12:32 pm] Kris :
http://www.trade-ideas.com/StockInfo/_Screene
rConfig.html
[12:32 pm] Kris : I think you can use their
free end of day scanner
[12:32 pm] lightning : Thanks, Kris. I’ll
give it a crack!
[12:32 pm] ppann : sell programs
[12:33 pm] trvlntrdr : thanks for your help
everyone, esp MK, Kris, Brent cya[12:36 pm]
rusty : JPM reducing target on FSLR
[12:36 pm] rusty : to $50
[12:40 pm] trvlntrdr : ($50)
[12:40 pm] trvlntrdr : trying to get there
before 4 pm:)
[12:42 pm] ronfrac : I’ve been trying to
short fslr all day. no stk available
[12:44 pm] mikewd2 -: GMCR
[12:44 pm] sonorant : ronfrac, what
platform, what broker?
[12:47 pm] rusty : FSLR has a big short
interest
[12:47 pm] rusty : over 20M short as of end
of Sept
[12:48 pm] rusty :
http://www.nasdaq.com/symbol/fslr/short-inter
est
[12:49 pm] ppann : my c/a in SFSF is 25.97,
I’m gonna try and swing this short. See if i
have the patience…lol[12:50 pm] ppann : oh
cost average
[12:50 pm] sonorant : ppann c/a stands
for?? something average?
[12:51 pm] ppann : your welcome sonorant
[12:51 pm] sonorant : gotcha, thanks
[12:52 pm] ppann : cvrd my last lot at
1245.5 on the ES
[12:52 pm] sonorant : tomorrow morning I am
not trading at all, or I am only going to
trade 3 shares (as opposed to my 30) for the
first 30 minutes!!!! I hate starting out
the day in the hole.
[12:53 pm] doji : Anyone betting on NFLX
[12:54 pm] mikewd2 -: guess it depends on
which way you bet.
[12:54 pm] sonorant : it might not be a bad
bet doji — especially if the market holds
[12:55 pm] amersaeed : I am thinking up
[12:55 pm] sonorant : did you buy any
earlier today at 115.50 or 116?
[12:56 pm] mikewd2 -: could be a wild ride
[12:56 pm] shark : my understanding is that
NFLX confirmed that earnings estimates are as
estimated by Wall Street avg consensus
[12:56 pm] shark : so only thing to listen
for on NFLX is “guidance”
[12:56 pm] sonorant : We may be up at least
until that European meeting on Wednesday —
though their time zones are earlier than ours
by enough that it could just be thru Tuesday
for us before it impacts us.
[12:57 pm] mikewd2 -: what to do with
streaming versus dvds[12:57 pm] rusty :
http://www.forbes.com/sites/greatspeculations
/2011/10/21/netflix-earnings-on-monday-could-
spark-run-to-195/
[12:57 pm] shark : estimated
earnings/expenses down the road
[12:57 pm] shark : for next quarter and
beyond
[12:57 pm] sonorant : what is “guidance”?
[12:58 pm] shark : if you do a trade on NFLX
a call spread could reduce costs greatly
[12:59 pm] amersaeed : I have call spread on
NFLX 135/140 Jan 13
[12:59 pm] amersaeed : my cost is 1.8
[12:59 pm] mikewd2 -: TXN hod[12:59 pm]
observer : Take care, Brent
[12:59 pm] ppann : ccj nice move
[12:59 pm] shark : AWESOME amersaeed!!!
[12:59 pm] shark : you’ll catch next
quarter’s earnings reports if you have to
stay in that long
[01:03 pm] rusty : SPY lowest volume day
since July
[01:04 pm] rusty : NFLX .99 expected
[01:05 pm] ppann : nflx pop
[01:06 pm] rusty : 124-103 good reason not
to try to play earnings
[01:06 pm] rusty : 99
[01:07 pm] ppann : guided lower
[01:07 pm] rusty : Netflix, Inc. $NFLX Posts
Q3 EPS of $1.16, vs. cons. 95c, sales $822M,
vs. cons. $811M
[01:07 pm] sonorant : man — what happened
to it?
[01:07 pm] sonorant : what is cons.?
[01:08 pm] ppann : grabbd some at 100
[01:08 pm] rusty : .95-.99
[01:09 pm] ppann : out +3
[01:10 pm] sonorant : so wait, rusty, given
what you just said, it sounds like they did
better than the consensus. So why is it
tanking?
[01:11 pm] ppann : 0ut +2
[01:11 pm] sonorant : heavens, is earning
seasons always like this after hours?
[01:12 pm] ppann : kind of
[01:12 pm] rusty : the whole story with NFLX
is whether they are going to grow like they
have been….so even if they meet or beat
their #, if no growth then no real reason to
be long
[01:13 pm] ppann : long every trade on
nflx[01:15 pm] rusty : at current earnings
and 118 on the close they are trading at a PE
of 28-30 or so, they need to grow 30% per
year to justify that valuation
[01:16 pm] ppann : been busy with the euro
last 20 min
[01:16 pm] ppann : took .23 that
time..yuck[01:16 pm] sonorant : a good PE is
around 10 isn’t it?
[01:17 pm] ppann : NFLX beat but their
subscriber growth imploded
[01:18 pm] rusty : depends on stock
sono….for the SPY that would be a pretty
good avg PE
[01:20 pm] ppann : 1.2 mill share traded in
10 min on nflx[01:20 pm] ppann : ftnt i’m
gonna hold till premarket tom
[01:20 pm] rusty : I’m always amazed
watching daytraders all getting long NFLX and
other volatile stocks before earnings, like a
lottery ticket, and then after the stock
tanks, they are all quiet
[01:22 pm] ppann : ooh bid on SfSF is 25.4
🙂
[01:22 pm] rusty : at 92 NFLX trading at PE
of 23
